I. Flavor enhancer in food industry
Dairy products: used in ice cream, yogurt, cheese, etc. to give natural cream aroma, cover up milk smell and enhance the taste.
Baked food: added to cakes, bread, cookies, simulate butter or caramelized aroma, and enhance the warm flavor after baking.
Candy and chocolate: used in coconut-flavored candy, white chocolate, and bonbons to enhance the layering of coconut or creamy aroma.
Beverages: used in tropical flavored beverages (such as coconut milk, fruity cocktails), a small amount can enhance the fruity aroma and sweetness.
Compound flavor blending:
Compound with other lactones (such as γ-nonalactone, δ-decanolide) or ester flavors (such as coconut aldehyde, vanillin) to create complex tropical fruit or dessert flavors (such as coconut-mango, cream-caramel).
Regulatory compliance:
Approved as a food additive by FEMA GRAS (FEMA 2360), EU (FL 10.020) and China (GB 2760), with a recommended dosage of 1–50 ppm.
II. Daily chemicals and personal care
Perfumes and fragrances: As the core ingredient of sweet gourmet or oriental perfumes, it is paired with vanilla, sandalwood, jasmine, etc. to create a warm, milky base tone, commonly found in female perfumes and home fragrances.
Skin care and cleaning products: Added to lotions, shower gels, and conditioners, it provides a soft creamy coconut fragrance and enhances product affinity (concentrations are usually 0.01%–0.5%).
Oral care: used in toothpaste and mouthwash to cover the coldness of mint and increase the sweet aroma.
Innovative applications:
Added in trace amounts in high-end cosmetics (such as lipstick and liquid foundation) to enhance the user experience through aroma and create a "natural feeling".
