L-proline is a white powder-like solid that is highly hygroscopic and readily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol and other solvents. It dissolves in ethyl acetate at high temperatures and is slightly soluble at low temperatures. It can be recrystallized with EA.
L-proline can be used as a raw material for health products and a pharmaceutical intermediate. It is an intermediate for the diabetes drug vidalliptin. Additionally, it is an important optically active pyrrole derivative that can directly catalyze asymmetric Robinson cyclization reactions, Aldol reactions, etc. It is an important intermediate in peptide synthesis. It can also be used as a chiral intermediate to synthesize certain chiral drugs.
