Preparation
(1) Use lower alcohols such as methanol or potassium lower alcohol as catalysts. Mix lauric acid lower alcohol ester with glycerol in a molar ratio of 3:1. React under vacuum conditions at 150-170℃ for 20-40 hours to obtain crude lauric acid glyceride.
(2) Wash the crude fatty acid glyceride with 40-50% of the weight of the lipid lauric acid glyceride crude product and a 4% - 10% aqueous solution of citric acid once. Then, add 30% - 50% of the weight of the lauric acid glyceride crude product to 80 - 100℃ hot water, stir evenly, let it stand and separate the upper layer oil. Wash the upper layer oil with 80 - 100℃ hot water 3 times, and then heat and reduce pressure to remove moisture.
(3) Perform molecular distillation on the product obtained in step (2) under conditions of 130 - 220℃ temperature and 0.1 - 150pa vacuum to obtain lauric acid glyceride product.

Lauric acid glyceride, also known as glycerol monolaurate (GML), is an excellent food emulsifier and preservative. It was first discovered by Kabara et al. as a new type of safe and highly effective antibacterial agent, and was officially approved by the US FDA as a GRAS food additive in Chemicalbook in 1977. Lauric acid glyceride is not only an excellent emulsifier but also a safe and highly effective broad-spectrum antibacterial agent, and it is not limited by pH. It still has good antibacterial effects in neutral or slightly alkaline conditions, and is particularly suitable for application in the special oil industry.
