I. Food and Beverage Industry
Food Flavoring
Peppermint oil has a lower menthol content and reduced irritation, making it more suitable as a food additive to give candy and chewing gum a refreshing and cool feeling. It is also used to mix peppermint tea, soda, and alcoholic beverages (such as mojito cocktails). It can also be added to chocolate and ice cream to balance the sweetness.
Regulatory Compliance
It must comply with food additive standards such as FDA (USA) and GB 2760 (China), and is usually labeled as "natural mint flavor" or "edible peppermint oil".
II. Daily Chemicals and Personal Care Products
Because of its moderate cooling feeling and low irritation, it is widely used in toothpaste and mouthwash to provide fresh breath and inhibit oral bacteria.
Add to cleansers and toners to regulate oil secretion and relieve skin burning sensation. It has oil control and soothing effects.
It can also be added to shampoos and conditioners to give a cooling feeling and improve scalp itching (especially suitable for summer products).
Fragrance products
Used as a middle and back note in perfumes and scented candles, paired with citrus or woody notes to enhance the refreshing level.
III. Medicine and health fields
Cooling and antipruritic agents: used in mosquito bite ointments and prickly heat powder to relieve skin itching and redness.
Muscle pain relief: compounded with camphor and methyl salicylate to make relief ointments or patches.
Gastrointestinal medicine: a small amount is used in stomach-strengthening and digestive tablets and digestive juices to promote gastrointestinal motility.
Throat lozenges: relieve throat discomfort and provide a cooling feeling (such as throat lozenges).
