Phenethyl resorquinone (SymWhite® 377) is an efficient whitening agent and a multifunctional chemical intermediate. Its core value lies in:
Powerful whitening: By inhibiting melanin through dual pathways (tyrosinase inhibition + antioxidant), the effect is significantly better than that of traditional ingredients;
Widely applied: covering fields such as cosmetics, medicine, and polymer materials;
Technological upgrade: Nano-encapsulation technology resolves stability bottlenecks and expands application scenarios.
Cosmetics field (Core Applications)
Whitening and removing spots
Inhibiting tyrosinase activity: Structurally similar to tyrosine, it competitively binds to the active center of tyrosinase and blocks the melanin production pathway.
Antioxidation: Eliminate free radicals and reduce the damage of oxidative stress to melanocytes.
Efficacy comparison: It inhibits tyrosinase activity 22 times that of kojic acid and 100 times that of β -arbutin.
Applied products: Whitening essence, sunscreen, anti-aging skin care products. The recommended addition amount is 0.1-1.0%, and the limit value stipulated by Chinese regulations is ≤0.5%.
2. Pharmaceutical and industrial fields
Pharmaceutical intermediates: Synthesis of anti-tumor drugs (such as paclitaxel) and cardiovascular drugs.
Industrial additives
Plastic/rubber: Antioxidant, enhancing the weather resistance of the material.
Coating: Enhance UV stability and extend coating life.
Toxicity: Oral LD₅₀ in rats ≈1550 mg/kg (moderate toxicity); It has low skin irritation, but high concentrations may cause sensitization
Risk Identification: R36/38 (Irritation to eyes and skin), R43 (Skin sensitization)
Storage conditions: Keep sealed, away from light, in a cool and dry place (temperature <30℃). Shelf life: 24 months
Precautions: Avoid contact with metal ions; Chelating agents (such as EDTA) need to be added to the formula.
