Zinc oxide, also known as zinc white, is a pure white powder composed of amorphous or needle-like small particles. As a basic chemical raw material, it has a wide range of application fields, such as the rubber, electronics, medicine, and coatings industries.
Zinc oxide can be used as: a feed nutrient enhancer, a nutritional supplement (zinc enhancer); a reinforcing agent for rubber or cables to make rubber have good corrosion resistance, tear resistance and elasticity; a vulcanizing activator for natural rubber, a coloring agent and filler for white rubber; fine particles (with a particle size of about 0.1 μm) can be used as a light stabilizer for plastics such as polyolefins or polyvinyl chloride; pigment for paints and filler for rubber; used in medicine for making ointments, zinc pastes, and rubber plasters; an analytical reagent, a reference reagent, a fluorescent agent and a photosensitive material base; electrostatic wet copying, dry transfer printing, laser facsimile communication, electrostatic recording and electrostatic plate making in electronic computers; in the reduction-oxidation capacity method for determining manganese, it is used to precipitate elements that are easily soluble in salts, such as iron, chromium, vanadium, titanium, and zirconium; a reference reagent for standardizing disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate; a new type of chiral framework material NaZnSiO3OH, which can be applied in ion exchange, adsorption or catalysis; inorganic white pigment, with a coloring power inferior to titanium dioxide and lithopone, widely used in ABS resin, polystyrene, epoxy resin, phenolic resin, amino resin and polyvinyl chloride and paints and inks for coloring; production of fabric blankets, cosmetics, enamelware, paper, leather, matches, cables, etc.; in dyeing, glass industry, pharmaceutical industry, etc.; used in the plastic industry, sunscreen cosmetic series products, special ceramic products, special functional coatings and textile hygiene processing, etc.; widely used in industrial raw materials such as synthetic ammonia, methanol and hydrogen production, and deep desulfurization and purification processes of oil and deep oil refining.
