In a dry reaction flask, oleic acid (1mmol) and ethanol (170mmol) were mixed together, and then the reaction mixture was heated to 343K and stirred at this temperature for 2 hours. Then, SnBr2 catalyst was added to the reaction mixture. The resulting reaction mixture was further stirred and reacted for several hours. After the reaction was completed, the reaction mixture was directly filtered through diatomite to remove insoluble precipitates in the reaction system. The filtrate obtained was extracted with water and ethyl acetate to separate the organic layer and dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate. The desiccant was filtered out, and the filtrate obtained was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was separated and purified by silica gel column chromatography to obtain the target product molecule ethyl oleate.
Ethyl oleate is a colorless oily liquid at normal temperature and pressure, with a distinct aroma. It is insoluble in water but soluble in most organic solvents. Ethyl oleate belongs to ester derivatives and is a commonly used food flavoring additive. It is widely applied in the production of food and beverages. In addition, compounds are also commonly used organic synthesis intermediates and raw materials for fine chemical production, and are also used in the production of lubricants, water repellents, and resin toughening agents.
GB2760--1996 stipulates it as an edible flavoring that is permitted for use. Used as a lubricant, water repellent and resin toughening agent. It is used in the preparation of surfactants and other organic chemicals, and also serves as a fragrance, pharmaceutical excipient, plasticizer and ointment base, etc. Lubricant. Water repellent. Resin toughening agent. Gas chromatography stationary liquid (maximum operating temperature 120℃, solvents are methanol and ether). It is used as a stationary liquid, solvent, lubricant and toughening agent for resins in gas chromatography
